The majority of Chicago children ages 0-2 eligible for Early Head Start lived on the Northwest, West and southwest sides of the city.

Twenty-eight communities had more than 500 children ages 0-2 eligible for Early Head Start in 2009. Eleven communities had more than 1,000 children ages 0-2 eligible for Early Head Start, and two of those (Austin and South Lawndale) had more than 2,000 eligible children. In contrast, fourteen communities had fewer than 100 children ages 0-2 eligible for Early Head Start.
