The majority of Chicago children ages 0-2 eligible for Head Start lived on the Northwest, West, and Southwest sides of the city.
Thirty-six communities had more than 500 children ages 0-2 eligible for Head Start in 2006. New City, South Lawndale, Humboldt Park and Austin had more than 1,000 eligible children ages 0-2. In contrast, fourteen communities had fewer than 100 children ages 0-2 eligible for Head Start.
