The majority of Chicago children ages 3-4 eligible for Head Start in 2006 lived on the Northwest, West, and Southwest sides of the city.

Eight communities had more than 1,000 children ages 3-4 eligible for Head Start in 2006. New City, Humboldt Park, South Lawndale, and Austin had more than 1,300 Head Start eligible children. In contrast, sixteen communities had fewer than 100 eligible children ages 3-4.
