The majority of Chicago children ages 3-5 enrolled in Head Start in 2006 lived on the Northwest, West, and Southwest sides of the city.

Nine communities had more than 500 children ages 3-5 enrolled in Head Start in 2006. North Lawndale, Humboldt Park, South Lawndale, and Austin had more than 700 3-5 year old Head Start enrolled children. In contrast, seven communities had fewer than 10 3-5 year-olds enrolled.
