From 1990-2006, Chicago's citywide population of children 0-5 did not change. However, population changes varied dramatically by community.
Forty-three communities showed increases in their population of children ages 0-5. Thirteen of these communities had increases in their child population greater than 50 percent. Thirty-four communities showed decreases in their population of children ages 0-5. Washington Park, Douglas, Near West Side, Grand Boulevard, Riverdale, and Oakland had the largest percentage decreases.
