From 2000-2006, Chicago's citywide population of children 0-5 remained virtually unchanged. However, population changes varied dramatically by community.

Forty-three communities showed increases in their population of children ages 0-5. Twenty-one of these communities had increases in their child population greater than 15 percent. Thirty-one communities showed decreases in their population of children ages 0-5. Riverdale, Grand Boulevard, Oakland, and Douglas had the largest percentage decreases. Three communities showed no change in their 0-5 population during this time period.
