In 2006, over 54, 000 children ages 0-2 were eligible for child care subsides in the city of Chicago. The majority of these children lived on the Northwest, West, and Southwest sides of the city.

Twenty communities had more than 1,000 children ages 0-2 eligible for childcare subsidies. Twelve communities had less than 100 children ages 0-2 eligible for these subsidies. Norwood Park, Mount Greenwood, and Edison Park had no children ages 0-2 eligible for subsidies.
