In 2006, over 32,000 children ages 3-4 were eligible for child care subsides in the city of Chicago. The majority of these children lived on the Northwest, West, and Southwest sides of the city.

Nine communities had more than 1,000 subsidy-eligible children ages 3-4. Twenty-two communities had less than 100 children ages 3-4 eligible for these subsidies. Norwood Park, Edison Park, and Mount Greenwood had no subsidy-eligible children ages 3-4.
